Inner Melbourne

One team carries this work from start to finish

A scratched lift door should not put a replacement on your critical path. M&M Services Group offers stainless steel polishing across Carlton and inner Melbourne, restoring handrails, handles, sinks and lift doors in situ — the item stays on the building while the finish comes back. Scratched chrome is handled by the same crew, so a run of metal defects across a lobby or lift core becomes one visit and one closed register item.

It is one team from enquiry to sign-off, backed by a group that also carries facade, glass and silicone scopes under a single subcontract. Work is recorded with time-stamped images available on OneDrive, so the before-and-after record travels with each defect item. Crews operate day and night shifts — suited to lift cores and lobbies in Carlton that can only be released outside trading or site hours.

Working in Carlton

Carlton's built fabric runs from University of Melbourne campus buildings and purpose-built student accommodation towers to the Victorian terraces and Lygon Street shopfronts of the Carlton conservation area. The Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens carry World Heritage listing, setting an exacting benchmark for heritage restoration nearby. Rolling university capital works and student housing delivery drive most of the suburb's commercial construction and refurbishment activity.

Our Melbourne team also covers Melbourne CBD, Parkville, Carlton North, Fitzroy, North Melbourne and the rest of inner Melbourne.

Questions

What builders ask us

Yes — stainless polishing is available across Carlton and the wider region. In-situ work is our specialty: handrails, handles, sinks and lift doors are restored where they are installed, without removal. Around 20 per cent of the team is based in Melbourne, so Carlton packages are resourced locally, with Sydney crews behind them when a programme needs surge labour.

No — restoring stainless in situ is the point of the service. Handrails, lift doors, handles and sinks are polished where they sit, which avoids removal, freight and the lead time of a replacement item. The finish is worked to match the surrounding metal so the repair reads as part of the original installation.

Yes. Stainless polishing is often one line inside a larger defects or make-good package, and we price it that way — through tenders and RFQs from builders and facade companies, or as a direct scope from a contract administrator. Send photographs and locations of the affected items and we will return a priced response.

Each item is photographed before and after restoration with time-stamped images, and the record is accessible to your team on OneDrive throughout the engagement. That gives you clean evidence for the defect register and handover file, and a clear trail if the damage originated with another trade on site.
